Fire rated doors have special labels and markings, and are used in critical areas such as dividing a garage from the living space in a home. They are rated to protect the people inside a living space from fire for a specific amount of time to allow alternative exits, or rescue before fire overtakes the living space. They are also used as apartment/condo entry doors from a public hallway into a private living space. While there are many different ratings, most common are 20 minute (garage to home) or 90 minute (apartment unit entry door). We assemble many various designs of fire rated doors, with spring hinges that self close for safety.
